First Ever Pilot's License Auctioned Off

Just in time for the holiday's... That is if you've got about $18k to spend. The folks at Bonham's auction house in New York are set to start the bidding on this piece of aviation history on the 15th of December 2008 at 1pm eastern. The link to the auction is here, click through to find out more information about placing bids.

The description reads as follows "The first civilian U.S. pilot’s license ever issued. MacCracken was a former Army pilot and strong supporter of Federal aviation legislation. He advocated for the Air Commerce Act to encourage aviation in America and by 1927 he was the Assistant Secretary of Commerce for Aeronautics. MacCracken himself would sign subsequent pilot's licenses, but this, the first, was signed by his superior, Herbert Hoover."

Thanks Staci!!
