Welcome to AviationBull, and thanks for stopping by. We designed this site to be a place where folks can discuss current events in aviation, so please feel free to look around and drop a couple of comments on the articles we've written. Make sure to stop by our projects page and our popular LSA comparison page to see what we've got cooking there. We're always looking for feedback to make the site better as well, so if you've got suggestions for a story, or just want to say hi you can send us a note here. Thanks for reading AviationBull, where pilots go to shoot the bull...
Around the World...on French Fry Power
Jason — Mon, 02/11/2008 - 19:45
Green Flight International was in the news recently for taking the world's first jet aircraft flight powered entirely by biofuel. It turns out they just getting warmed up though. The Canadian Press reports that Green Flight's next step is an around the world flight in a Learjet...again powered entirely by biofuel. In addition to regular news coverage, we can look forward to a film about the trip.
The Canadian Press Article says that running the jet on biofuel alone will reduce greenhouse gas emissions by 50-80%. Sounds great, but unfortunately biofuel costs three times as much as regular jet fuel. If industry could reduce that cost we'd have an almost endless supply of oil...American fast food restaurants must use thousands of gallons of it to cook french fries every day.
