Air Taxi Roundup

We thought it might be a good idea to take a look at all the different Air Taxi operations out there right now. Aside from the often published DayJet, and POGO... who else is making a run at this new market. Well there's quite a few contenders... check it out.

DayJet: Definitely the field leader at this point, they're based in Florida and seem to be making quite the splash. Aircraft: Eclipse 500

Earthjet: Not flying quite yet, but they look like a cross between an Air Taxi and Netjets. Aircraft: To be designed...

Hopscotch Air: These guys are relatively unique in the Air Taxi bunch in that they're operating using piston driven aircraft. They're awaiting approval from the FAA but it looks like they've got their fleet lined up already. Aircraft: Cirrus SR22's

Imagine Air: Based out of Atlanta they're running a mixed fleet, and only operating out of 4 different airports. Looks like they plan on expanding once they grab their first Eclipse. Aircraft: Cirrus SR22 and Eclipse 500

Linear Air: Walking the line between shared ownership and Air Taxi these guys operate in the Northeast and run some scheduled flights.

POGO: Probably the next largest competitor to DayJet, they're almost ready to take off. Look for them in 2009... Aircraft: Eclipse 500

Pronto Jet: No website yet but it looks like an air taxi... Aircraft: Looks like Eclipse 500's to me...

SATS Air: Another one of the piston operators, these guys are operating down south. Aircraft: Cirrus SR22's

Skyway: Honestly it's tough to tell what these guys are up to, they only offer some sort of scheduling page. Aircraft: Looks like Cirrus SR22's

Your Jet: Not a lot of substantial information on the site... no area of operations or anything really. Althought it does look like they're nearing certification. Aircraft: Diamond DA-42 and the Diamon Jet upon release

For more information we recommend checking out the Air Taxi Association. They've got some great resources and a few more companies that we didn't feel fell in line with the business model of an Air Taxi.

I really like the air taxi idea. Well, someone has to be able to justify the cost of the air taxi. It is a very interesting concept though and I see that there is a future to this business.
