Hey Airventure!! Where's the iPhone App?
EAA's aviation spectacular known as Airventure to some and as Oshkosh to the veterans, can be an overwhelming experience for even the most seasoned show-goers. Enter my personal favorite new media platform, the iPhone... I know you're thinking ENOUGH with the iPhone already but hear me out. The Coachella music festival had their own iPhone app that provided show times, maps and a friend finder tool that allowed you to navigate the crowds to find your buddies.
That app was developed for a 3 day music festival that didn't include half of the events going on at Airventure. Now the Coachella app wasn't without its hiccups, primarily induced by spotty AT&T service caused by the density of the people attending. But reviews from when the app was working were great!! Think about it... even if the app wasn't strictly for the iPhone, having location awareness for you buddy or at least your buddies campsite would be really useful. I mean, how else do you plan to collect that six-pack he owes you from last year.
And what about the forums? I mean, I love looking through the schedule lineup with a highlighter in hand trying to plan my day only to find out that I've double booked a sheet metal work shop and Rod Machado. Rod always wins by the way...
Seriously, EAA is spending a bunch on a facility upgrade, surely they can spare some for the Geek user experience...
