About Jason

I just finished 11 years as a military aviator, and I'm waiting for training with a major US airline. I also try to stay involved in General Aviation As much as possible. I recently achieved accreditation as a Master CFI with the National Association of Flight Instructors.

I've flown and instructed in a few glider clubs including: the Coastal Soaring Assocation, the Black Hills Soaring Club, and the Black Forest Soaring Society. I've done some flying and instructing with the Civil Air Patrol too, mostly with South Dakota Wing out of Rapid City.

Since I can't get as much flying as I want at work, I've always wanted to own an airplane, it's nearly impossible to find a taildragger to rent, and I have a very understanding wife, she allowed me to buy her an airplane. N5792C is our 1950 C-170A. It's a great aircraft and a lot of fun to fly. It's taken us all over the southeastern United States, and even made a trip from Florida to Oshkosh, and back. If you see us, please come over and say 'Hi.'

So far, my two favorite types of flying are: low-level formation flying through the canyons of Big Bend National Park at 360 kts, and thermalling a single-seat open cockpit glider at about 36 kts.

Outside of flying, I studied Computer Engineering in college and earned a Masters in Human Factors Psychology via distance learning through the University of Idaho. I plan to apply this combination of degrees to flight instruction and maybe aircraft design someday.

Please feel free to send any questions or comments my way.
