AirWX Aviation Weather iPhone app

Operating System:
iPhone
Price:
$7

I've had and used AirWX for about a year now. Its major purpose is to offer aviation weather in the form of TAFs, METARs, PIREPs, and weather charts. NOTAMs were just added, thought I have not tried them out yet. The app also have an E6B calculator.

Good
-Decripts coded aviation weather formats into easily readable chart
-GPS link allows you to find the nearest airport with weather
-It can access a snapshot of the sectional covering the airport your looking at weather for, helpful in flight planning

Bad
-Does not offer weather radar, just large area weather charts
-Does not save WX data or sectional shots for use in flight
-When used with the iPhone, the program is too slow to be used in flight- looses data connection between cell towers before WX is delivered
-Does not recognize what WX capabilities each airport has, will offer TAF for airports without TAF capabilities.

Bottom line, its a nice idea, makes getting weather quick, but the high price for an iPhone app make it difficult to justify. It would be worth the price if it was faster, and able to provide sectional data from memory. It would also be more useful if it provided information on Temporary Flight Restrictions.
