Welcome

Welcome to AviationBull, and thanks for stopping by. We designed this site to be a place where folks can discuss current events in aviation, so please feel free to look around and drop a couple of comments on the articles we've written. Make sure to stop by our projects page to see what we've got cooking there. We're always looking for feedback to make the site better as well, so if you've got suggestions for a story, or just want to say hi you can send us a note here. Thanks for reading AviationBull, where pilots go to shoot the bull...

Sport Pilot Training

Whether you bought a factory LSA from AMD or built a kit version from Zenith you'll want to get checked-out in your new aircraft. If you're just looking for somewhere to rent an LSA for training or to see if you want to buy one, you need to find an aircraft to fly. In Scottsdale, that place is the League of Extraordinary Aviators.

Sky founded this organization to be the flight-training arm of his business. They work like an aero-club, requiring an initial membership fee and monthly dues. Once you've joined you can get instruction and/or rent aircraft. The rental rates are great and they are located close enough to Phoenix's class B airspace to offer training in a busy environment, but also have plenty of access to open airspace for basic training.

The league goes beyond a regular flying club though. When you show up to fly, you are handed a bag of current charts along with the aircraft keys. The League keeps track of pilot currencies to help you remember when you are coming due for things. Sky envisions the League to someday have locations around the country. Each site will have similar aircraft available and will keep track of members using a networked database. Similar aircraft and common qualification tracking will allow members to fly at any League location without having to get a check-out everywhere he or she goes. Most importantly, this will be done with economical light sport aircraft. This is exactly the type of organization we need to make good use of the new sport pilot rule!

If you are interested in getting light sport aircraft flying in your area, I'm sure Sky would love to hear from you.

As important as the League will be for sport pilots, don't forget they offer flight training in the IFR certified Alarus at an incredible rate of $55/hr! Combine flying the Alarus with 20 hours in the Elite flight simulator and an instrument rating becomes downright economical in today's market.

Sky's League of Extraordinary Aviators is a smart business that offers economical flying and quality customer service. When you combine this with the builder's assist program and aircraft offered by Silver Sky Aviation, I think we have sport pilot aviation powerhouse growing. Personally, I can't wait for my next business trip to Scottsdale because I'm going to stop by Silver Sky Aviation again and go flying!
